...is there a way that I help out those in need?...

What is there that I can do?

There are plenty of ways that you can help out! One thing that you can do is volunteer to help out with the animals. There is always socializing to do, play time, and cage cleaning to be done. We cherish any help that we get from the public, and who knows... if you show how much you care about animals, you may be able to take someone special home with you without investigations! There is never any limit on how much time you can spend with us; no minimum or maximum requirement!

Can I donate in anyway?

Yes! We are always in need of money and supplies, and will gladly accept either! If you would like to donate any supplies to us, please send them to

SOHAR, M. Lightfoot
180 Fonda Rd.
Waterford, NY 12188

If you would like to simply donate cash, you can either send a check to the address listed above (make checks out to Meredith Lightfoot; President S.O.H.A.R.), or if you have a paypal account you can simply use the donate button on the right.

Fostering?

Fostering is the long road to recovery for some animals, and the simple waiting for a ride home for others. Fostering an animal means that you take responsibility for an animal, and house them in your own home. Cages and food can be provided if necessary, as well as instruction on care for other animals that you may not have had before but would like to investigate. Fostering is no simple task, and for some animals will be a full time job, but in the end is astonishinly rewarding to you, the critter you care for, and the new parent(s) who return home with an amazing animal that will love them. If you would like to foster, visit the "Contact SOHAR" page and tell us so!
